Colbo and Sperry Lean Toward Ease With a Third Collaboration

Some things just get better with time–certain materials–leather, jute, linen, all soften and sun-wash towards a never perfect, yet ever better form. The same can be said for a creative collaboration, the kind that’s built upon shared trust, a foundation constructed across evolutions and iterations of reciprocity. What these two processes have in common, and which can only be achieved over time, is the introduction of ease. In the former case, ease of wear, in the latter, ease of the flow of ideas. Things become second nature, reclining towards the next step with less and less effort at each stage.

Both of these ripening processes figure into play as we introduce our third collaboration with American heritage brand, Sperry, continuing a creative exchange between classic craftsmanship and contemporary design. Scaffolding upon the success of our June 2025 debut, and the winter release that followed, this latest launch introduces three new tactile takes on the maritime-inspired Sperry x Colbo Authentic Original™ 2-Eye Boat Shoe, bringing with them an ease that can only come with time.

From custom developed Italian washed linen and dry natural jute—a nod to '90s upholstery, to richly worn-in distressed brown leather, each pair is designed to evolve with age, celebrating natural texture, developing patina, and an effortless, lived-in feel. Structurally, the soles have been redeveloped to improve durability and comfort while remaining lightweight and sleek in design, with the addition of "Razor-Cut Wave-Siping," a technology invented by Paul Sperry to disperse water and improve grip.

Captured through the eyes of a collective of friends across a series of shoots which took place between NYC, Ibiza, and Southern California, the campaign for the collection unfolds as a series of summer postcards; Lucia Bell-Epstein, Austin Calvello, and Marina Coenen each offer their own perspective on a shared idea: the everyday shoe, lived in.
The concept of the postcard is integral to the shoe’s form as much as its function: a shoe that’s lightweight, versatile, and compact enough to be stuck in a carry-on and accompany your summer travels all over the world, while maintaining the same structural integrity that is key to the design ethos of both brands.

Colbo Finds Home in Japan
Last month, we touched down in Japan for Colbo’s first-ever permanent shop-in-shop. Nestled within the Roppongi Hills location of the Tokyo-based multi-brand retailer Estnation among the fashion greats of Comme des Garçons and Maison Margiela, to name a few, this expedition marks the start of a long-term residency, setting a new stage for Colbo on the other side of the world.
