Seeking to preserve the function of its original and rare machinery, a 60-year-old Japanese knitting manufacturer sought a route to modernization. Although Kanemasa Phil. was created to give those ancient looms and appliances new purpose, the resulting garments are somehow more than the sum of their parts, woven of Europe’s choicest fabrics and finished in Japan’s highest-end factories.
